Woodstock a bustling neighbourhood

Woodstock has for many years been hailed as Cape Town's most up-and-coming neighbourhood. Home to many independent shops, restaurants, and art galleries, it is full of exploration places.

On the fringe of Cape Town's urban heart, Woodstock's convenient location means it has become the go-to suburb for the city's young middle class.

Amenities

Since the arrival of The Old Biscuit Mill and its consistently celebrated Test Kitchen and Pot Luck Club restaurants, Woodstock has been billed as a top destination for eating out. There are several significant smaller and even family-run restaurants in Woodstock. Places like Scarpetta, The Kitchen, Sepial's Kitchen, Hidden Leaf, and Andalousse are well worth visiting. There are two great ice-cream shops, in Unframed and The Creamery.

Woodstock is not only known for his restaurants. The Neighbourhoods Market is considered one of the hippest markets in Cape Town. Housed weekly in the Old Biscuit Mill, offers several original shops selling awesome crafts, clothing, and jewellery.
If you prefer a quieter market, you should visit The Palm Market. The theme is bringing the rural, proudly South African atmosphere into the urban part of Cape Town. Happening every Saturday, this market offers an incredible variety of things to see, do and eat.

Is fitness important in your lifestyle?

Woodstock Art

On the other hand, the neighbourhood has cemented itself as one of the off-beat art centres of Cape Town. It started as many young artists choose this as their base due to the explosion of events such as First Thursdays in the Cape Town City Bowl. Many trendy and independent galleries followed suit.

Although much of the neighbourhood's artistic talent resides inside galleries, Woodstock also has a thriving street art scene. The neighbourhood's weathered walls lend themselves perfectly to thought-provoking, eye-catching graffiti.

While the graffiti is on display for anyone to see, some hidden artworks are often located off the main streets.
